Individual Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy can be the most personal, meaningful, and fascinating journey an individual can take!  The core purposes of therapy are to enhance our lives and relationships, live with more clarity and compassion, and actualize our uniquely human potential to grow. With the right chemistry between patient and therapist, you begin to realize and experience the necessary changes and take the needed steps to feel happier, less burdened, and more fulfilled.  You become fully present in your own life and you start directing the course of your life!

The Role of the Therapist

The expert psychotherapist realizes and honors the gift that the patient is giving: the essence of themselves - pains, joys, triumphs, broken dreams, longings, and wishes.  All of it!  The psychotherapist is there to take a heartfelt and active role in guiding the patient’s journey and encouraging steps toward independence.

The psychotherapist must not only understand the experience of the patient on a feeling level, but must be willing and able to join the patient at that emotional place.  The therapist must also have the centeredness and stability to return to a solid sense of self.  At all times, psychotherapists need to be aware of their own feelings and needs, and be able to put them aside in the service of the person who is putting trust in them.
